Singapore Flyer!!!

Finally get a ride on the Singapore Flyer, a treat from my dear wife because it is my birthday! Like an excited child who saw a new toy, I keep rushing my wife to hurry up so that we can catch the sunset view. We got onto the ride around 7pm. The capsule is quite spacious, and hold about 9 people during our ride, with a lot of excess space for walking and viewing.

Slow and steady it turns, and the view of the east side of Singapore starts to show . As it slowly rise, the view get broader and further... beautiful! And slowly, the view of our CBD and Marina area unveils. At around 7:15pm, the sunset is seen right behind the CBD area. Glittering sunlight shining through the skyscrapers... I believe this view is only visible on top of the Flyer and no where else!

The last part of the view is the future IR. Grand! Even before its completion you will be facsinated by the view as you will see a lot of cranes, a lot of constuction vehicles, ongoing constuction buildings fully occupying the big piece of land. All of a sudden, I feel hopeful and optismistic, as I know this is the future iconic landmark of Singapore, another achievement which will again makes the little red dot stands out from the rest of the world!

And of course, I must thank my wife for giving me an unforgettable birthday treat!!! Muacks!

FLORENCE, ITALY (8th Mar to 16th Mar 09)

I was sent for a overseas course in Florence, Italy from 8th March to 16th Mar. Very beautiful place, good weather from 2Degree to about 15degree. And a added bonus is that my factory is located at the hill top, therefore got the chance to enjoy the scenic views of Florence whenever we drive up and down the hill. Here are a few pic of beautiful Florence :)

Tahiti...follow up..

My task for this trip is to go onboard this Cruise ship, PAUL GAUGUIN, to repair and conduct a yearly inspection for one of their marine system. So after staying 2 days in the Sofitel Hotel in Papeete, I took a domestic flight to Raitea and board the cruise ship in anchorage. On the way to the ship, guess what I saw? Dolphins! They are really playful and friendly and kept following my taxi boat... jumping out of the waters and speeding together. What a view!

Went onboard the cruise ship and they treat me just like one of their guests onboard. Invited me to have my meals in their posh restaurants for free, asked me to follow their guests to their private island for a swim and short getaway, leting me stay in their posh hotel room and free use of all facilities. Heard from the crew that their guests paid US$10k each for this cruise....And I get to enjoy it for free! Wahhh! Shiok ah! And I also tasted one of the most expensive and exotic food, caviar. And they served only the best onboard...have a big mouthful of it..haha! But then, don really have the mood to enjoy cos my luggage is still not found and my unfinish is job still lingling in my mind.
On the final day of my stay, I finally received my luggage from the airport, rushed like hell to finish my job and rushed off to the airport cos if I miss this flight, which is the last flight before Christmas, i will have to wait for 5 days later for another flight back to Singapore! Sound scary, but luckily, all went on smoothly and here I am back to my dear Homeland!
Home Sweet Home!!!

Blogging in Tahiti- 15-21Dec 2008

Finally, reached Tahiti after a 15 hours flight. 10 hrs flight from Sin to Auckland, transit waiting time 5 hrs and another 5 hrs flight from Auckland to Tahiti... very tiring flight ah!

And you know what? I lost my baggage in transit again. Was waiting to collect my baggage and realised that I am the last one in the baggage claim area... alone looking at the belt until it came to a halt... haha! Again???

Worst to come, wanted to call my boss to inform them of my plight and you know what? M1 do not have mobile reception in Tahiti! NB! maybe Singtel is a better choice after all...hmmmm...

Check into my hotel, bath and slept almost immediately... too tired after the long flight to think any further. The next day morning, went to the authentic "CARREFOUR" as early as 8am to buy clothing and accessories since all the necessaties are all inside my lost baggage. Looking at the price, I realised that the prices are very expensive over here. 2 sets of bermudas,T-shirts, socks, underwears and slippers cost me about Sin$300, even after i chose the average price items. And a prepaid SIM card cost about SIN$100.. NB..
Went sight seeing around my hotel... to be frank... quite dissappointed with the scenary. Not as good as what I have seen on the internet and nothing camparable with Saipan scenary. Maybe it is the wrong time of the season and the water is not clear. Or maybe my hotel is not located stragetically for the nice scenary. Hopefully scenaries will get better once I get onto the cruise ship to other islands.
The people on this island are mostly made up of French, Tonga, Samoa and a little bit of Chinese. And I notice the women here are separate into 2 major categories...either very beautiful or very big size... I know the description is kind of weird but that is what I have seen over here.
Ok, that's all for now.

"Free" Holiday - Bangkok

I was assigned a service job to Bangkok from 27th to 29th Sept. Finally going to a place I really like and familiar with. But I was a bit worried due to the political instability and you can see a lot of riots and protests on the newpaper almost everyday.

When I touched down BKK and on my way to my hotel, everything is very normal and it don seem like there was any protest earlier on. People went to work as normal and the streets are still filled with tourists. Not that bad, newspaper must be exagerrating and situation blown out of proportion.

I went shopping at Pratunam, MBK and also areas near my hotel, Bangkok Palace. While walking around, took a TuTu and wanted to go to Erawan Shrine to pray. The tutu actually took me to "Lucky Buddha" to pray and on the way, approached by a local Thai dressed like a businessman and chat up with me. Told me he trade in Thai Silk and also sell jewellery and offer me this business idea to buy jewellery at this particular shop and later sell at 100% profit in Singapore. Talk cock with him and tell him will go if got time. Board the Tutu again and ask him to send me to Erawan Shrine and you know what, this idiot send me to the jewellery shop which the so-called businessman brought up to me. NB, I knew they are in cahoots but just wanna see how things go and he really send me to the jewellery shop. Told tutu that he must send me to Erawan Shrine, if not will not pay him a single cents! Tutu sense my frustration and finally I reached my destination. Not trying to frame tutu drivers, but they can be a hassle and spoilt your day.

And you know what, in the end, my service job got cancelled at the last minute and I ended up having a free 3 days 2 nights holidays in Bangkok city. And when I reached Singapore, saw on paper the next day that a bomb exploded in Bangkok city..... safe or not safe to go.... you decide.

My next possible service job destination: TAHITI !!!

Saipan? Where???

Got a job assignement to Saipan from 11th Sept to 14 Sept... 1st thought that came into my mind is...Saipan... never heard of that. Is is a ulu ulu country or just a deserted island??? Search the internet for more info and suddenly looked forward to visit this small island after looking thru its introduction.
Saipan is actuallly under the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI), which is under the US rule. The exact location will be the intersection at the east of Philippines and the south of Japan. There is no direct flight from Singapore and I have to fly 6 hours to Seoul for transfer and then another 4 hrs to reach Saipan.

And things did not go smoothly for this trip. I was held up at the Saipan Airport as I could not tell the custom officer which hotel I am going to stay for the next few days. My agent suppose to arrange for me and email me the hotel and his contact number but I did not get the required info when I fly off at Singapore. Therefore, when I am unable to provide the name of the hotel, the Saipan custom refused entry and ask me to call agent... and I don have his mobile number! I try to call agent office, and you know what, my cell phone was unable to get any network signal. In the end, I borrow a phone from the officer and call the agent office, which of course no one pick up the phone as it is 2am in the morning ... I told them my agent should be waiting for me outside the airport and they ask me to wait while they check. And it is kind of funny cos I was asked to wait together with 2 ladies who overstayed during their last trip. And everyone is looking at us, the kind of stares which despise you and make you uneasy. When the officer finally came back, she told me she could not see anyone waiting for me outside. I managed to persuade them that I am here for official job and they finally let me through.. after 1.5hrs... Sigh!

Outside the airport, I was like a lost soul walking to and fro, hoping to see the agent. After waiting for an hour, I gave up and took a cab and went to the nearest hotel. What a way to start my trip! The next day, the agent finally contact me and fetch me to my vessel.

Saipan at night is... messy. It is difficult to shop around as you can find a lot of fitness centre and massage parlours all every corners of the street. Don think I need to explain further what service they offer... keep pestering me whenever I walk past them....
I have the whole day free on the 3rd day as I have finished my job. Finally I got the chance to go to the beach which is just rite at the back of my hotel and it is really really beautiful.White sandy beach, clear blue sea and sunny blue sky...shiok ah! Went for a swim in the sea and after that the hotel swimming pool. Wanted to capture the sunset with my camera but the cloudy sky dampen everything. And I forgot to tell you, most of the tourists on this island is from Korea and Japan. And therfore, you will get to see a lot of Korean and Japanese babes wearing bikini everywhere! Whahaha!
And you know what, my luck keep turning its back on me. When I reached Seoul and about to board the plane back to Singapore, I was stopped by the custom again. This time round, they told me they are unable to find my check in luggage from Saipan and it is lost in transit... NB... so heng meh! Since the plane is flying off they can't do anything and thus ask me to report in Singapore airport...
It has been 3 days since I lost my luggage.. and there is still no news from airport... where are you..........
